Why not add a little magic to your weekend dining table? When you hear the word “French,” you may have the impression that it’s difficult to get into, but in fact, you can surprisingly recreate the authentic bistro taste using just ingredients you can find at the supermarket. This time, we will introduce two exquisite recipes that you can quickly make with a glass of wine in hand.
Recipe ①: Scallop and orange carpaccio dill flavor
When you think of French appetizers, you think of the colorful carpaccio. The sourness of the orange and the sweetness of the scallops create a perfect harmony.
[Materials] (For 2 people)
- Scallops for raw consumption…6 pieces *Orange…1/2 piece
- Dill (herb)…appropriate amount
- EX virgin olive oil…2 tablespoons
- Salt (preferably rock salt)…a little
- White pepper…a little
[How to make]
- Slice the scallops in half and arrange them on a plate.
- Peel the orange, remove the pulp, and cut into bite-sized pieces.
- Scatter the oranges over the scallops and drizzle with olive oil.
- Season with salt and white pepper, and sprinkle with chopped dill.
★Chef’s tip Chill it in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld, making it even more delicious. We recommend a crisp, dry Chablis (white) as the wine to pair with!
Recipe 2: Mushroom grilled with garlic bourguignon and butter
A fragrant and hot snack that uses mushrooms instead of escargot.
[Materials] (For 2 people)
- Brown mushrooms…8 pieces
- Unsalted butter…30g (return to room temperature)
- Garlic (grated)…1 clove
- Parsley (chopped)…1 tablespoon
- Bread crumbs…1 tablespoon
[How to make]
- Remove the stems from the mushrooms by hand (chop the stems and use them in other dishes!).
- Make ``Bourguignon Butter’’ by mixing butter, garlic, and parsley.
- Fill the back of the mushroom cap (indentation) with plenty of butter from step 2.
- Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top and toast for 5-7 minutes until the butter bubbles and the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
★Chef’s tip Dip the remaining delicious butter onto your baguette and enjoy until the end. This goes perfectly with a light Pinot Noir (red).
